Our Core Principles

Derg Rowing Club is built on inclusion, respect, and stewardship of Lough Derg. We expect all athletes, coaches, volunteers, and visitors to uphold these standards at all times.

1. Inclusivity & Respect

• Treat every club member, visiting athlete, umpire, and volunteer with equal dignity, courtesy, and respect.
• Foster an encouraging environment where athletes of all abilities, backgrounds, and classifications feel valued.
• Zero tolerance for discriminatory remarks, bullying, harassment, or ableist behavior of any kind.

2. Sportsmanship & Fairness

• Compete with integrity, humility, and positive spirit at all heads and regattas.
• Accept the decisions of regatta umpires and race marshals respectfully.
• Support teammates and celebrate individual personal progression over mere medal counts.

3. Environmental Stewardship

• Respect Lough Derg and its surrounding shoreline habitats. Leave no trace at Two Mile Gate or event venues.
• Handle all electric launches, batteries, and charging equipment strictly in accordance with manufacturer environmental safety instructions.
