About Derg Rowing Club

A New Standard for Inclusive Water Sports

Based in County Clare at Two Mile Gate (Ballycuggeran), Derg Rowing Club was founded on two simple principles: that the joy of rowing should be open to everyone, and that our sport should protect the natural waters we train on.

While our club welcomes rowers of all backgrounds, our core mission is driving the growth of para rowing both locally in Clare and across Ireland. Through specialized para-rowing equipment, dedicated shore support, and 100% electric safety launches, we provide a welcoming, barrier-free environment where athletes of all abilities can thrive on the water.

Lough Derg is an ecological treasure. Derg Rowing Club is proud to be a completely green club powered exclusively by clean, electric outboard coaching launches.

✓

Zero Water & Air Emissions

No petrol spills, no oil sheen, and no toxic exhaust fumes for athletes breathing heavily alongside coaching launches.

✓

Near-Silent Voice Coaching

Electric motors run almost silently, allowing crystal-clear normal voice communication. This is an essential safety and coaching advantage for visually or hearing-impaired rowers.
